After a successful BAMMA return, defeating Aaron BlackwellShay Walsh will face off against Alan Philpott at BAMMA 30, July 7 for the bantamweight world title.

Heading into the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland, Walsh comes fresh off the face of a hard-earned unanimous decision victory over Blackwell. After a successful BAMMA return, the Lancaster MMA athlete jumps straight into title contention to try and reclaim his crown.

The pair has interacted on social media several times in the past regarding a potential fight, most notably after his victory over James McErlean. However, nothing was ever made of the talk, until now. Former bantamweight champion Walsh did, however, insist to MMA Plus that he wanted the fight at BAMMA 29 but Philpott was unable to make the date.

Both men, who are former champions in their own right, will be looking to reclaim glory in BAMMA’s bantamweight division at BAMMA 30. Upon signing with the promotion again, Walsh was insistent on recapturing his world title.

With both losing in recent times to current UFC starlet Tom Duquesnoy, the pair has a chance to take the division over and settle who the king of the BAMMA bantamweight division is.

The form remains with the Lancastrian, with “Firekid” being his only loss in his last seven fights. Current Lonsdale champion Philpott, however, will be looking to improve on his recent form, losing two of his last three. The fight will likely to be the main event of the evening.
