MMA Plus caught up with Danny Mitchell during last weekend’s Tankō Fighting Championships 3 event in Machester to discuss among other things his upcoming fight with Andy Devent next month.

Reputation as the UK’s premiere submission specialist

Long touted as one of the UK’s top submission expert’s, Mitchell (19-8-1) has established a reputation for the spectacular during his 9-year professional career which saw him submit C.J. Meeks via twister in typical fashion last July at Bellator 158.

Fans new to the sport may have been shocked by his grappling prowess but for those in the know, this was just the latest in a growing list of impressive submission wins.

“I hit it [the twister] all the time in the gym, anyone who trains with me will tell you that I’m a f–ker from that position. I’ve done other stuff before. The flying triangle against Dean Amasinger back at BAMMA was a big deal at the time but I’ve done a lot more for my name taking these crazy fights.”

Mitchell’s fight anyone attitude and those crazy fight’s

During his 29-fight career “The Cheesecake Assasin” has often been praised for his willingness to fight anyone and it is that attitude towards taking seemingly crazy fights that has seen him face the likes of Gunnar Nelson, Kendell Grove and Jake Bostwick to name a few and is a trend he wishes to continue moving forward.

“That’s our gym motto ‘we’ll fight any competitor’, that’s what we do. I’m after those interesting fight’s when a name comes through that what gets me excited, those crazy names. I don’t want to fight nobodies I want to fight the people I watch on Youtube, there the guys I want to fight.”
