On August 1 one of UK-MMA’s most intense fighters has his eyes set on taking home the Warrior Fight Series crown. At London’s historic York Hall fight venue, Brad ‘The Crazy Kid’ Wheeler (14-9) will stare across the cage with harmful intent once again, this time against ‘Shadow Demon Blaximus’ Jefferson George, the current WFS Lightweight Champion.

For Wheeler, it’s business as usual – another fight camp in his six-year career with this set to be his 24th professional contest. However, this fight in particular offers Wheeler an enticing opportunity with the chance to stake a claim as the ruler of a fast growing promotion.

“Training is going great, training twice a day, 5-6 days a week,” Wheeler explained. “[Jefferson] is decent fighter, better than people think, he’s athletic and unorthodox.

“It would mean quite a lot to me (to win the title), I’ve been fighting pro for six years so it would be nice to have something to show for it finally after all the ups and downs and years I’ve put in, to finally get the credit I deserve.”

Lead by promoter Harry Shoebridge, Warrior Fight Series took a huge leap on May 23 when Jake Bostwick and Patrick Vallee went the distance in a thrilling main event that raised eyebrows across the UK-MMA landscape.

Wheeler made his WFS debut on the same card after 11 months spent out of competition following the implosion of Cage Warriors. At WFS 3 Wheeler took a second round TKO win over Kester Mamba, but in addition to the ‘W’, he learnt more about himself, as well the new promotion that he’d joined.

“Bit of ring rust really (vs. Mamba), just getting back on the stage and getting in there was a good feeling again so looking forward to this fight (vs. George).

“I’ve know Harry [Shoebridge] for years so I know he knows what he’s doing and so far he’s put on good cards, I’m glad to be part of it and thankful for the opportunity to be fighting for the title.”

Solely focused on the task at hand, Wheeler refuses to imagine what could follow, should he reign victorious on August 1, but one thing he’s certain of is that the WFS lightweight crown will not be in the hands of Jefferson George by the end of the night.

With final words for his opponent, Wheeler stated: “I’m taking your belt home with me.”

“[Thanks to] Harry for giving me this opportunity, Jefferson George for accepting the fight, all my training partners and coaches at the MMA Clinic, John Kelly and the guys at Five Star, Rob Dawson my mind sport coach and all my family, friends and fans that continue to support me.”
