A K-1 rules bout has been set for the inaugural Macto Championships event with local favourite Fraser Opie taking on Louis King in high octane kickboxing action.

Raised in South Africa and fighting out of Milton Keynes, Opie is a light-heavyweight standout in UKMMA with a background in Japanese style kickboxing and Muay Thai. With an 11-7 MMA record boasting six knockout wins and titles in both Cage Contender and Fight UK, the BST Northampton fighter is now going back to his striking roots where he holds a 7-1 record in K-1 contests. From 2013-2014, Opie spent time as a prominent contender in leading South African MMA promotion EFC, but a dispute resulted in the 32-year-old leaving the promotion.

In contrast, Louis ‘KO’ King has featured in just one pro MMA contest (a first round knockout of Andy Manzolo in 2012), but has built a fearsome, hard hitting reputation with a 9-2 K-1 record and all but one of his victories coming via knockout. The kickboxing black belt has claimed middleweight and light-heavyweight UK-1 titles in UCMMA in addition to the light-heavyweight AK-1 crown in CSMMA.

The K-1 bout will take place within Macto’s 30ft octagon at a catch-weight of 90kgs.

Having exploded onto the scene earlier this week, Macto Championships’ debut show hits the Arena: MK in Milton Keynes on June 27 with a welterweight main event of UFC veteran Nick Osipczak making his highly anticipated MMA return against Londoner Wendle Lewis, and a welterweight co-main event between fearsome welterweights Alex Montagnani and David Round.
